I read Maurice and was terribly bored by it so I haven't tried any Forster since then (well, save for a couple of chapters of Howard's End), but The Longest Journey looks really, really intriguing... those themes are especially relevant to my life right now (and I am a consummate narcissist, ha ha).

Bluets looks really neat as well. I think I'd enjoy the philosophical meditations.

AH! But! I just remembered. I think you recommended On Chesil Beach a while back and I read that recently and did get a big kick out of it, so I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for the heads-up. I remember you talking about how it was a rather sad book, and I'm inclined to agree, albeit sad in an almost comical way with just how repressed both of the main characters are. Still, I love how McEwan wove back and forth in time to sort of show us how the characters got to this point, what motivates them, etc. It was both an interesting set of character studies as well as rumination on the theme of repressed sexuality and whatnot.
