It's funny that you should mention light reading, because one of my housemates was asking for light reading recommendations just last night. It's not exactly something I specialize in, as my taste in books tends to run toward the depressing and disturbing. So I don't really know... Have you read any Vonnegut? He has a really off-the-wall sense of humor, so it could be a good distraction from thesis-writing.
