Your review is so intriguing to me. Maybe I'll check out Martin Dressler--my list of books to read is getting so unmanagable!

I actually really liked Helprin's Winter's Tale, but I read that in high school, so perhaps my perspective will have changed. But I did like the dreamscape NYC in the novel (that, I definitely remember), so maybe I'd find that aspect of Millhauser's book appealing.

I've, shamefully, never read much Ondaatje. That's something else I need to fix!
