What a cute story. I had a fairly similar experience my freshman year, but it was with someone in my customs group, and it didn't work out. It was a mess. Room changes and all. Funnily enough, she's now one of the people I'm living with.

Recommending children's series is something that I'm much more equipped to do, especially if your tastes run toward fantasy. There's a good series by Geraldine Harris called -Seven Citidels-, of which the four individual books are called -The Prince of the Godborn-, -The Children of the Wind-, -The Dead Kingdom-, and -The Seventh Gate-. I have also heard excellent things about Phillip Pullman's -His Dark Materials- trilogy (-The Golden Compass-, -The Subtle Knife-, and -The Amber Spyglass-). I haven't read that series, but I have read other things by Pullman, which have been excellent, and my little sister liked it alot. And my girlfriend loves anything and everything by Edgar Eager, so I'm sure she'd recommend that you check out -Half Magic-, and the rest of that series....

Hope some of that is helpful.
